Description
Measure bacteria & residues in just 30 seconds
Introducing CytoQuant® – the world’s first hand-held mobile flow cytometer.
Using a simple swab test CytoQuant® users can detect and measure all bacteria and residues on surfaces. Separate, precise counts for each are provided in 30 seconds, enabling on-site verification of cleaning and disinfection procedures. CytoQuant® is easy to use and does not require a lab or special training. Results are unaffected by temperature, humidity or disinfectants.
Surface swabbing, reinvented.
Food safety depends largely on the cleaning and disinfection practices of food manufacturing facilities. The absence of bacteria (like Salmonella and Listeria) in food processing environments is essential for preventing illness and increasing shelf life and quality of food products. Current test methods, like ATP swabs, are a useful indicator of cleaning efficacy but do not tell the user if surfaces are properly disinfected. Traditional plate count methods also have limitations in that they take days to return a result and only 1% of all bacteria is culturable. CytoQuant® enables the detection of all bacteria with an intact cell wall, and the results are available on-site instantly.
What is impedance flow cytometry?
Impedance flow cytometry is a technology that measures cell and particle characteristics with electrical impedance as the method of detection. The sample is pumped through a microfluidic flow cell with integrated electrodes. An object flowing between the electrodes will introduce a change to the electrical current.
Bacteria have unique electrical properties. Because of their size, the non-conductivity of their cell membrane and the conductivity of their cytoplasm, bacteria leave a fingerprint that distinguishes them from other particles. This enables CytoQuant® to accurately detect and differentiate between intact cells and particles in a sample
Why should QC Managers make the switch to QytoQuant? How does it compare to existing test methods?
CytoQuant® is currently the only solution on the market able to provide a clear picture about the microbiological condition of production surfaces in real time. Traditional microbiological methods often don’t allow for preventive control and preoperational actions because lab results for plate count testing takes days. ATP tests, while simple and fast, quantify biological residues which are not an indication of disinfection efficacy. Each of these methods comes with considerable limitations, yet the user is expected to make informed decisions, fast.
